Looking after your Mental Health

This week’s blog post is inspired by fellow All Things Fiona Lily ambassador Ri, who wrote yesterday’s Monday Motivation post over on the ATFL Instagram. Ri spoke about how we need to be kind to ourselves, give ourselves credit for our accomplishments and most importantly, to love ourselves. So today I wanted to offer some tips on how I look after myself mentally, and how I’ve learned to love myself. Hopefully I can inspire some of you to be gentle with yourself because I think we all deserve a little kindness, especially during these difficult times.




My favourite time of the day is when I’m tucked up in bed, by myself. ‘Me time’ is so important for our emotional and mental health and it should be part of your daily routine. Give yourself time to relax and recharge. Spend some time alone to really get to know yourself and your thoughts. Learn to be content in your own company, and you will learn to love who you are.




Taking some tips from ATFL’s very own crew necks, kindness is key to a happy life. ‘Always be kinder than you feel’ is probably one of my favourite quotes of all time. When we are kind to people, we are putting positivity out into the universe and all those positive vibes come back to us. You will always feel better for showing kindness towards others. Kind people are happy people.




Too often we get caught up in what other people are doing, and what they are accomplishing. I am terrible for comparing myself to others and it is something that I really struggle with on a daily basis and has affected my confidence a lot in the past. Over the years I’ve learned to focus less on what other people are up to and more on myself. I remind myself every day of all the amazing things I’ve done, and all the little personal things I have achieved. Another one of my favourite quotes is ‘Remember when you wished for what you have now’ and that is something I always think of when I am being hard on myself. It’s so important to celebrate yourself and to acknowledge our victories, big or small. Focus on what you have accomplished and give yourself permission to be proud of yourself.


I hope these little tips remind you to give yourself a break, be kind to yourself and others and to acknowledge the amazing person you are! There is nobody on this earth like you, and you deserve to see yourself how others see you!!! And remember: YOU GOT THIS BABE <3
